Diploma Public Policy and Child Rights – kick off meeting

April 19, 2010

Cairo was the location for last week’s kick-off meeting for the Diploma on Public Policy and Child Rights (DPPCR). This diploma programme is planned to start in the summer of 2010 at 4 Arab universities. It will be developed and started as an EU-Tempus project and involve Arab and European partners. The Arab universities that are participating are Cairo University, Assiut University, the University of Jordan and Hashemite University. European partners include Freie Universität Berlin, University of Bristol, ISS at Erasmus University and MGSoG at Maastricht University. The set-up of this diploma programme is also supported by UNICEF in both Egypt and Jordan.

After having written and submitted an extensive project proposal to the EC last year, the proposal was approved and is now ready to take off. The kick-off meeting served to discuss the next steps in terms of content, logistics and finances. Unfortunately, the volcanic ash cloud had just reached Europe and the Dutch partners were not able to make it to Cairo. But despite this absence, we’re ready to start! In case you would like to know more about the diploma programme, please have a look at its website:
