presenting on multidimensional child poverty in the EU

June 13, 2011

Co-author Geranda Notten from the University of Ottawa and myself will be presenting our forthcoming papers on multidimensional child poverty in the EU. Two UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre working papers follow from a two-year long research project on definition and measurement issues around multidimensional child poverty. We use the micro-level EU-SILC database to consider types of deprivations suffered by children in four countries in the EU (France, Germany, the Netherlands and UK) and the extent to which such deprivations overlap. Furthermore, we explore different options for aggregating indicator level information in a composite index to provide aggregate pictures of child poverty. Results from these two papers will be discussed during a research seminar upcoming Wednesday at the Innocenti Research Centre in Florence.
